How do I create my first character?

Step by Step

• Go to Create a character from the navigation bar
• Enter a name for your character: this is what users see in conversations and on the marketplace
• Write personality instructions: the core prompt that defines how your character thinks, speaks, and behaves
• Set a greeting message: the first thing the character says when someone starts a conversation
• Optionally upload an avatar image to give your character a face
• Click Save and you are ready to start chatting

Your character is private by default. Only you can interact with it until you decide to share it via a direct link or publish it to the marketplace.

Writing Good Instructions

The personality instructions are the most important part. A few tips:

• Be specific: You are a sardonic 1920s detective who speaks in clipped sentences and hates being interrupted gives the AI far more to work with than Be helpful
• Define boundaries: tell the character what it should and should not talk about
• Include speaking style: mention slang, formality level, sentence length, and quirks
• Add knowledge: describe what the character knows and does not know
• Give examples: include one or two sample responses so the AI understands the tone

Next Steps

Once your character is saved, open it and start a conversation. From the character settings you can also:

• Upload documents to a Knowledge Base for specialized information
• Configure a custom voice (Pro and Creator plans)
• Connect it to Discord, Telegram, or Slack (Pro and Creator plans)
• Publish to the marketplace (Creator plan)
