How do I start a voice conversation?
Requirements
Voice conversations are available on Plus ($12/mo) and above. You also need:
- A modern browser — Chrome and Firefox work best. Safari has known microphone limitations on iOS.
- Microphone access — your browser will prompt you to grant permission the first time
- A stable internet connection — voice streaming uses WebRTC, which needs consistent bandwidth
The free plan does not include voice chat. Upgrade at dyva.ai/pricing to unlock it.
Starting a Call
- Open any conversation with a character
- Click the mic icon in the chat input area
- Grant microphone permission when your browser prompts you
- Start speaking naturally — the character listens, processes, and responds in its configured voice
- Click the mic icon again to end the voice session and return to text chat
Voice and text messages appear in the same conversation thread, so you can switch between modes freely without losing context.
Tips
- Use headphones — especially on mobile, headphones prevent echo feedback between your speaker and microphone
- Speak naturally — the engine handles pauses, interruptions, and casual speech patterns
- Minimize background noise — external or headset microphones produce better results than built-in laptop mics
- Check your voice minutes — Plus plans include 60 minutes per month. Pro and Creator plans have unlimited voice. Your remaining minutes are visible in Settings
- Bluetooth latency — wireless headsets work but may add a slight delay. Wired headphones give the lowest latency
Having trouble? Make sure no other app is using your microphone, refresh the page, and try again. If issues persist, try a different browser.
