Starting a Conversation
There are several ways to start a direct message on Dyva:
- From a profile: visit any user's profile and click the Message button
- From the compose button: click the pen icon in the top-right of the Messages page, then search for a username
- From groups or rooms: click on any user's name in a group or room and select Message
Compose Options
Once in a conversation, you can send text messages, share images (Plus plan and above), and react to messages. The message input supports basic formatting: bold with asterisks and italic with single asterisks.
Type your message and press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter for a new line.
Tips
- Messages are delivered instantly and sync across all your devices
- Use the search bar in the Messages page to find existing conversations quickly
- Pin important conversations by right-clicking a thread and selecting Pin
- If the person has strict privacy settings, your message may land in their Requests tab instead of their inbox
