How do I change my display name?
Your display name is how you appear across the platform. It shows on your profile, in chat conversations, and on any characters you create. Unlike your username, your display name does not need to be unique, and it can include spaces and mixed casing.
How to Change It
- Go to Settings and select the Profile tab
- Find the Display Name field near the top
- Type your new display name and click Save
The change applies immediately. Everywhere your name appears — profile page, chat headers, character creator credits, marketplace listings — updates right away.
Display Name vs. Username
These are two different things. Your username is your unique identifier and forms your profile URL (dyva.ai/u/username). Your display name is cosmetic — it is what other users see first when they interact with you. You can set them to the same thing or make them completely different.
Requirements
- 2 to 50 characters — short and simple or long and expressive, your call
- No special restrictions — spaces, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and most characters are allowed
- Not unique — multiple users can share the same display name
Things to Know
- Your display name does not affect your login credentials or profile URL
- Characters you have already published will update to show your new display name
- Other users who have chatted with you will see the updated name in their conversation list
- There is no cooldown — change it as often as you like
